The river Dee rises above Bala lake and flows through some of the most spectacular scenery in the whole of the British Isles. The Dee is about 60 miles long and the Maelor Angling Association is situated on the famous middle beats of the river. The Association has access to six and a half miles of the river, all within 3 miles of Trevor. The river is fed by 4 headland reservoirs; Alwen 368 acres, Brenig 919 acres, Celyn 800 acres and Bala 1100 acres. The latter is the largest natural lake in Wales.
Most rivers tend to go stale in a summer drought but the Dee will be as fresh in August as a frosty day in winter because the releases from these 4 reservoirs keep a steady flow at all times.
The quality of the water has a class 1 A rating, which means the Dee is one of the cleanest rivers in the country!
